Differentiated Treatment to Prevent Recurrence of Sebaceous Hyperplasia
If only the visible parts are removed, the underlying cause may remain.
Sebaceous hyperplasia is a lesion characterized by the sebaceous glands in the dermal layer becoming abnormally enlarged or proliferated.
However, typically, treatments involving laser removal of visible lesions are commonly performed.
While these methods may appear to show temporary improvement,
if the sebaceous gland itself remains, there is a possibility that the hyperplasia may recur.
We approach sebaceous hyperplasia differently.
Our goal is to reduce the likelihood of recurrence by managing the underlying internal causes along with removing the surface of the lesion.
We go beyond simply improving visible symptoms,
and aim for treatments that manage both the cause and symptoms, expecting fundamental improvement.
To achieve this goal, we use a combination of two devices.
1. Potenza Needle RF (Insulated Radiofrequency 1-Pin Needle)
It directly delivers high-frequency thermal energy to the area where sebaceous glands are located,
selectively denaturing the sebaceous glands.
By using an insulated needle, it minimizes damage to the epidermis or surrounding tissues,
allowing for precise targeting of only the sebaceous glands.
This plays a crucial role in managing the root cause of sebaceous hyperplasia.
2. Er:YAG Laser
This laser allows for precise depth control,
and is used to delicately remove raised lesions.
It causes relatively less damage to surrounding tissues, which can help reduce recovery burden and lower the chance of scarring.
If necessary, CO2 laser can be used in conjunction to manage deeper lesions as well.
This differs from an approach that simply removes the lesion.
CO2 laser-only ablation only removes the visible parts, leaving the sebaceous glands themselves, which can lead to recurrence.
Our combined treatment manages the sebaceous glands themselves and addresses surface lesions, which can help inhibit the recurrence of sebaceous hyperplasia.
Characteristics of Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Treatments that only remove the surface may not be sufficient.
Both the visible parts and the internal causes must be managed together to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?
Small, round bumps are observed, primarily on the forehead, cheeks, and around the nose.
The center of the lesion may appear indented, resembling a belly button.
Although it may look similar to a pimple, it characteristically does not extract easily.
It tends to persist for a long time without disappearing, or gradually increase in number over time.
These symptoms may not be simple blemishes,
and may indicate *sebaceous hyperplasia*, a condition where sebaceous glands are abnormally overgrown.
Q&A
고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.
Do I necessarily need to combine it with Potenza?
When treating syringoma or sebaceous gland hyperplasia, Potenza directly targets the sebaceous glands. Combining this procedure can help reduce the possibility of recurrence of these lesions.
Is there any downtime?
It is recommended to attach a regenerative tape (e.g., DuoDerm, DuoDerm gel) to the treated area for at least 2 weeks for recovery.
Will it be very painful?
The degree of pain experienced can vary from person to person. We strive to minimize discomfort by applying sufficient anesthetic cream before the procedure.
